Hello wrestling fans and welcome to another edition of The Insider Report by yours truly, The Insider. This week we'll recap all the exciting action from the April 5th show at the EWF Arena and shed some light on next weeks show as well. So without wait, on with the action!

The Insider was all set and ready to go this week with some buttery popcorn, 2 bottles of Gatorade and not one, not two, but three candy bars! What can I say? I am completely in love with the chocolate ecstasy otherwise known as the Snickers bar. Besides, I'm not fat; I'm just be boned! Ok, on to the show.

The show kicked off with EWF Owner, Hurricane coming out and making a few announcements. First off, that Anarchy was the winner of the 2002 Wrestler of the Year award. He beat out a close run by Jack Hammer and Pheonix on the Internet poll. I of course, voted for Anarchy. Congratulations to Anarchy on the tremendous achievement. Hurricane also addressed the fact that under EWF guidelines, Anarchy would have to vacate one of his titles, as he currently held both the BMF title and Heavyweight title. At that time, Pheonix made his way out the ring to crash the party.

Pheonix, with mic in hand exclaimed that he wanted a piece of the EWF Heavyweight title and the BMF title didn't mean a thing to him. Hurricane said he could have his title shot tonight under1 agreement. If Pheonix is NOT victorious tonight, he cannot have another title shot for 30 days. The stage was set, Anarchy versus Pheonix for the Heavyweight gold!

Shortly after, our referee for the evening, Jason Riggs would come out and be the man in charge of the squared circle for the evening. Our first match of the evening would feature two unique men. Steven Sommers came out to the ring first, clad in Canadian attire. He proclaims he's the amazing, black, French Canadian. I wonder if he plays hockey? His opponent this evening would be the odd psycho individual and mentally unstable rubber chicken handler, Snake.

A pretty basic match here wrestling fans. Steven Sommers controlled most of the match as Snake looked to be somewhere else during the entire matchup. Perhaps he's still a little rusty from his layoff a couple weeks back, or he's still conversing with those "voices" he keeps talking to. Snake was able to kick out of 2 near falls and this made Sommers pretty angry at the ref. Sommers backed the ref into a corner and decided to give him a piece of his mind. As the ref was distracted with the jibba-jabba of Steven Sommers, Snake was trying to peal himself off the mat. Just as Snake gets to his feet, Hypnosis making his return after 14 months came running out and just destroys him, leaving snake again laid out on the mat!

Steven Sommers ceases the opportunity and goes for the pin. An easy 1-2-3 pinfall for Steven Sommers as Snake was still laid out afterwards. Moments after the match, Snake slowly got back to his feet with the aid of the ref, but Snake seemed to not want the help as he chased the ref out of the ring. Snake might want to talk to the "voices" about how to win a match sometime.

* Steven Sommers beat Snake

On to our next match of the evening, which would be part of the 8-man tournament for the BMF title. Straight from the "painted" streets of San Francisco, comes "Primetime" Damon Starr! As Starr makes his way to the ring, the fans clearly showed they did not want any of what Starr was dishing out and booed him very loudly.

His opponent for the evening would be the pride of Gas City, Indiana: James Byington! He's formerly known as Busta, James went right after Starr and the action was on.

Starr was able to gain control and get James to the mat; it wasn't good either as Starr was able to grapple and wear down James and eventually go for a pin. Damon Starr moves on in the 8-man tournament, while James Byington goes home not only with a loss, but the feeling of being abused. Better luck to him next time. *Note to self, stay away from Damon Starr as much as possible! *

* BMF Title Tournament: Damon Starr beat James "Busta" Byington

Our next match of the evening was a little family feud, as Kid Liberty would make his way to the ring to challenge his redneck cousin, Hank Calhoun.  Hank Calhoun, hmmm. What more needs to be said about this guy? I'm still surprised he hasn't been on Jerry Springer yet. Maybe sometime soon they'll visit his trailer park and ask him to come on the show.

Referee Jason Riggs checked Kid Liberty for foreign items not once. Not twice, but three times after Hank Calhoun ordered him to do so. As the Ref checked Hank out, he immediately stopped after noticing a little bit of cow poo on Hanks boot. Cow Pie anyone? The bell was rung and the punches were flying. Too bad for Kid Liberty, as he was on the receiving end of 90% of those punches. Hank had control, as Kid couldn't stand up to the punching as was thrown around the ring like a rag doll. Hank Calhoun moves pretty well for a big man, but he's nowhere near as quick as Kid Liberty. Kid was able to bounce back off the ropes, exchange hip tosses with Hank and end up getting Hank to the mat. Both men back to their feet, but Kid was on the receiving end of a cow patty boot to the face. Whoooo! Wash your mouth out after that one!

At that point, Hypnosis came running in from the back and attempted to attack Hank. I say attempted, as Hypnosis is maybe 1/2 of Hank's size on a good day. Hypnosis went for a hurricanranna, missed and thus was dropped face first onto the mat. Hypnosis got the clue that maybe he bit off a little more than he can chew and rolled out of the ring. Smart move! Hank turned around and was met with a little sweet chin music superkick to the mouth from Kid Liberty. Hank goes down and out; Kid Liberty grabs the 1-2-3 pinfall and moves on in the tournament!

* BMF Title Tournament:  Kid Liberty beat Hank Calhoun after Hypnosis, making his return, interfered.

The action continued for the 8-man tournament! I'd get to see on of the most underrated stars in the EWF, Stryc-9 face one of my favorite wrestlers, King! This was destined to be a good one. King is about as Super Pimp as they get. The ladies love him, the kids love him and the guys wish they could be that smooth brother known as King. Styrc-9 is one bad mamajama himself. He's swole as a.... hey now, watch your mouth! This match was a battle of reversals it seemed. Styrc-9 would apply a hold, King would reverse it. King would work the hold, and Stryc-9 would battle back. Now that’s the kind of stuff I like to see.

A great match all around between the two men the grand finale saw that King was able to connect with the TKO and get the pinfall here in a very close match. King moves on in the tournament, but I'm sure Stryc-9 has learned some things and will return with a vengeance. These two guys are 2 of my favorites wrestlers and they never disappoint. Best of luck to King in the next round of the tournament.

* BMF Title Tournament: King beat Stryc-9

Our next match of the night would also be part of the 8 man BMF title tournament. I would pit crowd favorite, Hellraiser against "The Feature Presentation" Johnny Mac. Hellraiser came out to one of the loudest ovations of the night and rightfully so. Hellraiser has been tearing it up lately in the EWF since his return a few weeks ago. His opponent, Johnny Mac, is someone I truly dislike. Mac has some great in ring skills, but he's a total jerk to each and every one of the fans. Cocky and arrogant would describe him well. Once the bell was rung, it was on like donkey kong! Johnny Mac took control early on with a nice display of technical skill and attempted to slowly wear down Hellraiser.

After an attempted spear from Hellraiser, in which he connected to only the corner ring post, Johnny Mac thought he had the match in hand. Not so fast oh cocky one. Mac spent too much time parading around; yelling at the fans and this allowed Hellraiser enough time to recoup. Hellraiser fired back with a huge spear that leveled Mac and sent the crowd bonkers! Hellraiser made the 1-2-3 pin, got the win and moves on in the tournament after this great matchup. Johnny Mac was pretty hot after the match and let out a bit of verbal anger to the fans sitting near the entrance area. I really dislike this guy more and more every week!

* BMF Title Tournament: Hellraiser beat Johnny Mac

So the stage was set for the BMF Title tournament for next week. King would face "Primetime" Damon Starr and Hellraiser would be facing Kid Liberty. Those should provide for some interesting matches wrestling fans. I got a feeling there will be more drama involved in these matches than a Jenny Jones show.

Now, on to our main event of the evening, which would be for the EWF Heavyweight Title. Newly crowned champion, Anarchy would face his fist contender to the title and it would be no easy task. His long time former best friend, long time bitter enemy; Pheonix puts it all on the line tonight for a single shot at the Heavyweight gold. If Pheonix is unsuccessful tonight, he will not have another shot at the title for 30 days according to EWF Owner, Hurricane.

These two guys are like peanut butter and jelly; peas and carrots, Fred and Barney, R. Kelly and high school girls. A match made in heaven or a match made by the devil himself? Sparks were about to fly tonight as the challenger, Pheonix made his way to the ring. Pheonix still gets a mixed reaction from the crowd as some people still hate him for previous acts and some people just flat out respect his skills. Pheonix looked as focused as ever tonight and he knew he had to bring the "A" game against the Heavyweight Champ. Anarchy slowly made his way to the ring and appeared to be a little tender footed as well. This could be a result from last weeks brutal 3-way dance in which he captured the title in dramatic fashion. Anarchy is so totally over with the fans that he received the loudest ovation of the night.

After Referee Jason Riggs presented the gold to the crowd and both men, the bell was rung and both men circled the ring looking to lock up. The lock up was textbook and classical, as Anarchy had control while Pheonix looked for a reversal. Pheonix reverses and that’s when the action really picked up. After a great sequence of criss-cross the ring and attempted moves and blocking of those moves, Pheonix was put to the mat with a hip toss. Pheonix was quick to his feet, not allowing the champ to get the edge early on. Pheonix was able to gain control shortly after and looked to have things solidly in control after wearing down Anarchy and connecting with the Trifecta moonsaults.

Pheonix went for the pin, but only got a 2 count. This made Pheonix pretty anger and he went to have a talk with the ref about it. This allowed Anarchy the opportunity to get to his feet, but not quick enough as Pheonix met him with a nice savate kick to the head. Pheonix went thru a series of near pinfalls, as Anarchy was able to kick out or get to the ropes on about 4 occasions. I thought Pheonix had him for sure after a textbook fisherman's suplex to pin, but it was only a 2 count. This really had Pheonix hot and you could tell it was getting under his skin. The challenger looked to have lost his focus at this point and went to the top rope, looking to finish off the champ.

Pheonix braced himself on the top turnbuckle, but wasted far too much time, as Anarchy was able to quickly get to his feet and rush to the corner. Anarchy delivered a stiff kick to Pheonix in which ended up with Pheonix getting the old rope to the groin. Anarchy was able to climb the same turnbuckle that Pheonix was sitting on, and lock in his finisher. The modified suplex variant from Anarchy sent both men crashing to the mat. Anarchy was able to make the cover after a brief moment in which both men laid motionless. The ref made the count, 1-2-3 and Anarchy was able to retain the EWF Heavyweight title!

*  EWF Title:  Anarchy (c) beat Pheonix

A very hard fought battle between these two great competitors, but Anarchy walks out victorious this evening. Pheonix, who now must wait 30 days to even consider having another title shot, put up a great fight and it will be interesting to see where he goes from here. Anarchy makes his first title defense and I'm sure it won’t be his last as a long line of contenders stand in his way.

That is all for this week wrestling fans. The Insider will be back again next week at the EWF arena to bring you yet again, another recap of the show. EWF is looking to be getting hotter and hotter as the summer months come with several huge stars already booked for near future. I'll see you all at the arena next Saturday night! Thanks for reading!
